Winchester model 54 270 WCF

Just received my grandfathers model 54 chambered in the 270 WCF. I has his original Lyman Alaskan scope on it with the numbers 19664 after the word ALASKAN The guns serial number is 18095. Any information on the gun or scope would be greatly appreciated. I am interested in what it is worth but do not have any interest in selling.

    Hello Time,

    The serial umber on your new (old) rifle indicates that it was manufactured in 1928. Lyman introduced the ALASKAN scope in 1939, and based on the fact that yours has a serial number in the 19,000 range, my bet is that it was made sometime in the 1940s.

    How is the scope mounted to the rifle? If the barrel or receiver was drilled and tapped for mounts, that diminishes the collector value somewhat.
