mauser llow scope safety not safe
I have a 98 mauser with a low scope safety when the safety is on and you pull the trigger you hear a click when you release the safety the gun fires not a safe condition how can this be fixed thank you, j.j.

The Mauser M98 rifle has been made by many different companies in many different countries in both military & commercial configurations. You say "low scope safety" & I must assume this is an after-market part added to clear a scope.
When fit properly, the safety lever cams the bolt's cocking piece back to clear the sear. Too much interferance fit & the safety will be hard to operate, too little & you get the unsafe condition you are experiencing now.
It would be impossible to make parts that fit every time on every different rifle. Most makers of after-market parts sell them with a disclaimer "fitting by a gunsmith is required". Sounds like that was not done on your rifle. The final fit between safety, cocking piece, & trigger sear is not an expensive job but because of the safety issues (as you already are aware of) you really should take this to a gunsmith!

problem solved this was a turk mauser with a factory trigger the safety came from a box of old stoff 10 passes with an emery stone on the cocking piece fixed it i still think the best aftermarket safety on a mauser is anopen bolt thank you, j.j. 0 -

Taken to the extreme, an unloaded gun is safer. Now, back to reality:
When afield, safeties are a must. Travelling afoot with an open bolt is impractical, and sudden bolt manipulation can be dangerous. Best, Joe0
