The question is: a GAstinne Renette what? You need to post pictures.

I had a fine quality over-under percussion pistol with that name but Liege (Belgium) marked. Gastinne Renette percussion cased 'dueling' pistols from the mid 1800s were of good quality for the time and type of weapon. By 1900 they were a dealer in arms in Paris. I have a S&W .44 Russian Singla Action revolver marked 'Fini par Gastinne Renette' lettered by S&W as shipped to them in 1896. I bought it in France in the '50s.

Do you know if it fires a cartridge? They retailed high grade firearms. A good gunsmith can make a hammer, but it is not a cheap job. If it is a percussion gun with a side hammer, Dixie has inexpensive hammers that are easy to fit. I've done that for many friends.
