self destructing powder

I'm interested in starting to reload, but was recently told by an experienced reloader that the government is now requiring mfgrs to make the powder with a 1 or 2 year shelf life so that people can't stockpile it.Does anybody know if this is true?

Also, I'm starting to price components and wonder if it is still possible to even save money by reloading?

    Unless you intend to load in great quantities, don't see you saving any money. Specially with the price of components nowadays.

    Self destruct? Won't happen overnight. It would have taken chemical breakdown of the propellant components (or witchcraft).

    Now, during the time it takes between 'full service' and 'stale', many rounds will become stuck in barrels.

    Can you imagine a police agency (any police agency) buying rounds that are DESIGNED to fail over time?

    This one has been circulating for at least 15 years and pops up everytime someone wants to get an ammo and reloading panic brewing again. There is no truth to it so lets move along.
