Picked it up over the holidays from a relative. I ran it by a few people and no one seems to be able to positively identify it. Total barrel length is 16" to the break. It's a single shot. Appears to be all hand made, as you can see tooling marks everywhere. Grips are hand carved, you can tell when you take them off and look on the back. They were not finished by a machine. A few posts seem to identify it as a Rossi Rocket, but I can't confirm this. Any help?

    If it's smooth bored the barrel has to be 18" long. The overall length has to be 26". Your dancing on thin ice with the feds if it doesn't meet the above criteria.

    That really wasn't the question. The question was rather if anyone can help identify it. It is a single shot, smooth bore pistol that has been in the family for decades. Just trying to get some more info on it.

    What's their to identify? If it has the Rossi Trade Mark shield on the butt, and a Brazilian retailers marking, it's obviously a Rossi that was originally sold in Brazil. GOOGLE Rossi's history and follow the links, you might find more information on it. Rossi was in business for years making inexpensive utility guns for the poor folks in Brazil, prior to being exported and sold in the U.S. Back in the 60's before GCA 68, their double barreled pistols and Ladysmith copy made out of potmetal, were sold on the American market.

    Model? Production years? Export/Import....Rossi doesn't have it on their site. And there is no mention in the 'History' that they manufactured a pistol like this other than in a manual calling it a Rossi Rocket, but there are no pics, no production dates, no anything.

    That's why I asked. I already looked. I just thought there might be someone who had some experience with this particular gun.
