I believe you will have a probem with the SKS mags in any Yugo unless its made for a Yugo. In general, there is no function free mag for the SKS, unless its the factory 10 or a factory 20 round for the SKSs. Opinions will vary on this, its my experience that it is true for me. USA mags did mark (most) of their mags but I was not a fan, I know what you mean of some of the aftermarket mags, they are just totally junk. Either go for a Promag, which I have had good luck with, or put it back to the 10 round factory...imo..nambu

+1 - the SKS is a fine rifle as it comes from the factory, don't try to make it something it isn't.

If you must have more capacity or detachable mags, find a SKS-D or SKS-M as they both take AK mags from the factory. Or, sell the SKS and buy a Saiga or AK.

I;m fairly certian usa still makes magazines...

I have several older usa 20 rnd detachable magazines, and they function perfectly still and are well made with steel followers.. The company may have changed there manufacturing process to make them cheaper as is the usual way with these small off brand companies. You may have ended up with later production mags, or even phonies.

There is other companies like tapco, National Mag and Promag that sell detachable mags also..

but as nambo and username says, there is no mag for the SKS more reliable then non detachable 10 and 20 round mags made for the design by the designers..

With practice one can load the sks with stripper clips very quickly, even when walking or running.. It can be like threading a needle with detachable mags, and you cant reload them useing an AK stripper clip guides either.

This is the only way to go, but it will take some work to make it fit right. Due to variances in the receivers and mags they rarely are a direct fit. This one took some time but works flawlessly. Dhould be able to find one around $40 and up.

Tapco stock and mag systems works quite well for SKS rifles. Using anything else is a waste of time and money.
