We need to see more photos, especially the barrel & all markings on it. Also need to see closeups of all small parts. Plus, need to know bore condition. And, photos of magazines, including markings.

If he can't do better than the 1 photograph, I recommend he hire a professional photographer. The investment will be worth the money.

this pistol was made 1941 and the original finish should be BLUE / Black Not parkerized Pictures are a must with this ITEM

EDITthe letters RS in the box on left side is inspector Colonel U.S.A Robert Sears inspected pistols 723,001-750,500 Your pistol looks great If you remove the firing pin retainer the slide should have the serial number part above the firing pin hole and part below the firing pin hole on the slide hidden when the firing pin retainer is in Place Barrel should be marked on the left lower side of the chamber COLT $% AUTO and the lower locking lug left side with the letter P. If you remove slide and look around the disconnector hole there will be letters numbers or both I might be able to tell you what they stand for....

also, who was the colonel? did he fly combat missions? europe or the east? an ace? was he a col during the war? an interesting provenance could bring more money at a sale, especially if there's paperwork to back it up.
