will weaver rings fit on picante rails or do you need ones for a picante rail system?? thanks bill

    The Weaver style rings will fit on the picatinny type/style base. It just is where one is made to mil-spec , and the other is not. That is not saying that mil-spec is better either.

    "Picatinny" (aka 1913 rails).

    The difference between Weaver and Picatinny is that per military specs, the slots on Picatinny rails have to be the exact same distance apart. Also, the slots on the Picatinny rails are a *LITTLE* larger (if I remember right its 2/100 of an inch).

    So yes, all Weaver accessories should fit on Picatinny rails.

    Occasionally Picatinny accessories won't fit on Weaver rails.

    A few manufacturers actually make the same accessories in Weaver and Picatinny versions. So *IF* you can match the accessory you want to use to your exact rail, you might as well do it.

    If not, don't worry about it.

    Just a note, make sure your using the newer weaver rings with the square cross bolt. The old ones have a round bolt and will not be as secure, tend burr up the square notch of most new bases.WAG
