1917 eddystone safety
Help! I inherited a 1917 eddystone 30-06 from my dad. After throughly cleaning this gun, I somehow assembled the safety mechanism wrong (??), and now it is locked in a funny position and it will not move in either direction. The safety is pointed straight back towards the butt plate and this blocks the screw that holds the small retaining block in place. Now what!?? Surely, I am not the first guy to do this. Is there a trick to making the safety move? Am I screwed? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the safty lever is in the 'safe' possition (straight back), it might be just 'stuck' try tappining it forward with a plastic mallet or screw driver handle. 0 -
