Three (3) Triggered Stevens Dbl Brl Shotgun

Why can I not find any information on this shotgun? It is a "J Stevens Co Chicopee Falls Mass" double barrel, hammer shotgun with three (3) triggers. The third one breaks the shotgun open for loading. The only numbers I can find are...

Barrel - 598, C, 1, 14
Recv'r - 598
Guard - 598

Any help getting me pointed in the right direction would be appreciated.

    The 3 trigger shotgun is the model 1877 and was made in 10 & 12 ga.Damascus barrels. The model was made until 1882 and came in a varity of options including steel barrels in many lengths. 24 to 32 inches. The third trigger as you know opened the gun and the extractors presented the spent shells.
    The barrels were actually made in Europe and marked J.Stevens & Co..
    The one I own says J.Stevens Chicopee Falls.
    Not very handsome guns and very heavy but they are collectable to some of us Stevens Nuts.

    There is an illustration for a Three Trigger Model Hammer Double in my reference book "The Breech Loading Shotgun in America. 165 to 1940" written by Joseph T. Vorisek. The gun was made in 10 or 12 gauge with 30" or 32" Twist or laminated barrels. There was also a version with one rifle barrel and one shot barrel in .38 or .44 caliber. The gun was made from 1876 to 1884. The illustration shows a double trigger guard with one trigger (break open lever) in the front loop and two triggers in the rear loop. The gun of course has outside hammers.

    just for some historical note-Wyatt Earp owned one of these 3 triggered Stevens shotguns.

    The experts have spoken - much appreciated. This specific example is a 12 gage that was given to me by an uncle before I enlisted. I wore out three toothbrushes cleaning it almost 20 years ago. It still is as clean and shiney as a new one...I go through and clean all my weapons every New Years while watching TV.

    I will reference the books listed above to see if I can make sense of the numbers stamped on it.

    I did a search and discovered where they talked about using one of these guns in the movie Tombstone.(http://www.sheraykoenterprises.com/caravanwest/article.html)
