You may get a 22 long rifle cartridge to go OFF but it may split and damage you & the pistol[xx(] The outside diameter of the 22 LONG RIFLE case is smaller then 22 Mag you may find another cylinder but it should be checked for fitting and timing by a gun smith.

The Model 826 was only offered with a 6 shot .22WMRF cylinder. The .22 lr analogue is the 9 shot Model 829. Frame, grips and barrels, etc. seem to be identical between examples of these two revolvers in my collection. However, I believe that because of different cylinder capacities, timing would be off, if cylinders were swapped. Model 832 is the 6 shot .32 S&W Long version.

Great info. Thanks !! The length of the hand, I would think, should keep me from swapping cylinders. The little revolver seems accurate except for one chamber. There is a tiny split toward the end on the shell. This seems to cause a flyer. What is your opinion of H & R, and where are their weaknesses ? [:)]

By the way....32 mag...I have been shooting .32 Mag's in my Nagant revolver with good success. I do have to wrap the cartridge in masking tape to keep it centered and to prevent splits. This "hillbilly" solution seems to work. Your thoughts, worries and cautions, please. [:)]

My concern would be one of eventually over stressing the cylinder metal and having a catastrophic failure - aka "Kaboom". The .32 H&R Mag. avg. pressure runs around 24,000 psi while the Nagant 7.62x38R - IIRC - runs around 18,000 psi. I've heard of others doing what you are doing - ??????????

godwife, your shooting .32 mag in a nagant reminds me of an old friend that loaded sharp pointed bullets for his 30/30. everyone advised him not to. he shot several in the rifle before it blew up. unfortunately it took most of his hand off. fingers are too hard to replace to risk shooting something like that.

Thanks to all, and i've decided to give up on the LR idea and only shoot mags. The CCI is only $12 a box. I probably won't shoot it enough to make much of a difference. The little snub nose is sure LOUD out of that 3" barrel !!! But suprisingly accurate at 21' !!!!
