i will try again (Winchester 1873 help)
i would like some info about model 1873 winchester 32 wcf rifle
as of now i am not worried about value as more as to where to get a in depth history on the rifle the serial# 45453 OB there is a lot of space between the number and the O&B the O is at a hard forward slant the rifle has a cresent butt stock, lever action, octagon barrel, buck horn rear sight, blade front sight the rifle and butt plate has been nickle plated the barrel is 24" long the magazine tube is same length as the barrel i belive it has single set triger and a lever lock the bore looks very very clean with all the rifling very strong all the numbers and barrel address very strong the stock and fore arm is in nice shape stock has some dings nothing bad fore arm has a very small chip next to the receiver
as of now i do not have any pictures i will get someone to help me try to down load some for yall to see i do have a letter 0rder from cfm so any info would really be appreciated as to maybe if it was plated at the factory or maybe sent back and done later i just do not know how to or where to reseach
again anything will help ps the rifle seems to be about 90% the action is really smooth and tight the lifter ejector is nice very few marks all inside .

WAIT for BERT H he will be the BEST source of information. 0 -
the resident Winchester expert here is Bert H. and he is also a moderator. Pics definately help. The letter you ordered from the Cody Museum will give you more info. One mans 90% is anothers 75% so that is why pics are so important. They are easy to post here just check the sticky on the front page of the experts section. 0 -

The serial number should read 454530B with no extra or unusual looking space between any of the digits or letter.
The only "history" that you can get on that rifle is what you can derive from its previous owners. The CFM letter will provide you with the date that it was received in the warehouse from the assembly room, the original as built configuration (caliber, barrel, trigger, and if it was factory nickel-plated), and the date that it was sold.
Without pictures, we are in the dark.0 -

You are quite welcome[:)].
What serial number did you request a letter for?
This is what the serial number stamp should look like...

the serial # i requested from cfm was 454530B. with that said i also told her that it looked like a space between the #s and the oB & the o being at a hard slant to the right. i hope soon to know how to down load pics. i will get you a close up of the number so you can see.
THANKS AGAIN Bert [:)]0
