REM. Date Code

I have a NIB Rem. Classic, in 7-08 listed here on GB. A prospective buyer asked for the date stamp. Upon looking, I find that there is NO SUCH ANIMAL. I am familiar with them, but it's just not there. I have pulled the metal out of the stock, just not there. Single line role stamp as usual. REP, in the oval on the rt side, as usual, however it is followed by a N, which is in a smaller size stamp, than the rep. SN is E6754130. So what do I have here???

  The last part of the sticky above subset rem says.
  
  (*) On 8/9/99, stopped stamping the barrels with the date code. They continued to mark the date code on the end flap of the shipping box. They resumed stamping the date code on the barrel on 10/1/01.

  Since it's an annual Classic it had to be made the year that the 7mm-08 was the caliber of the year . Which was 2001 !
