Glow sticks in shotshells

    Fiocchi is making them. Expensive, and the problem is that the glow sticks doesn't have the same mass and weight as the lead shot. Close up they probably are in register. As the range increases the shot cloud and glow stick are going to diverge.

    These are tracers called Canned Heat Cyalume by Fiocchi and are packaged 10 rounds to a can. They are packaged in a can because the cyalume chemical is light sensitive and will degrade otherwise. Each can has an expiration date. See below image.

    The tracer is simply a short light stick which is activated when fired from the shotgun. Cyalume uses two mixtures in separate capsules in the light stick. Firing the shotshell causes the capsule to break and starts the chemical reaction. However, dropping or throwing the shell can activate the light stick also.

    Loads are .75 ounce #7.5 or #8 shot.
