promag vs mec-gar vs usa mag
any opinions on the quality of these 3 mag makers?iam going to buy a 30rd for a browning hp.

Mec-Gar makes most of the magazines for the handguns on the market. Very few actually make thier own magazine. They are great mags.Stay away from usa, and I have had 70/30 luck with Promag.

Not only are many of the "factory" mags that come with new guns in the box actually made by Mec-Gar, but Mec-Gar used to make the "factory" HP Magazines for FN/Browning and probably still do.
The Mec-Gars are the best aftermarket magazines, and if you can find one in the configuration you like, go for it.
USA mag, forget it.
Promags are hit and miss. Some are good and some are not. I'd try avoid these too, unless its the only mag you can find for your gun.
You didn't ask, but personally, I'd also pass on a 30 round Browning Hi-Power mag. Those really long mags are nice for submachine guns, but for a conventional pistol, its going to be bulky, heavy, poorly balanced, expensive, and most important, probably not all that reliable.0 -

Mec-Gar are good, BUT the customer service sux big time [xx(][B)]
I sent two emails a few weeks ago and the jerks can't be bothered to answer [:(!]
That said, good luck finding a 30rd that will feed in your HP. I have one here that I tried everything to get it to feed and it is in my junk box now.
Find some factory 20,s. I have two and they feed fine.0 -
30 round MAG [V] to each his own but the spring to lift 29 rounds will be so heavy the magazine will be harder to load and take longer to load then 3 normal magazines. On top of that have you ever tried picking up a pistol with a magazine inserted this long and this heavy when loaded. [:(] 0 -
+1 more for Mec-Gar. I have used them in several autos and they are fine quality. Have not tried a super-capacity mag in my Hi-Powers, but the 30 round for the Glock is heavy, awkward and a pain to load. The only justification is the Glock 18, which is full-auto and can use the capacity. The super-cap mags look like they should have a wheel on the bottom so you can move them around. 0 -
i would also recommend staying away from the 30 rounder. i have 15 round mec-gar i got from greg cote llc. about $21 each. never had a single problem with them. just my two cents. 0 -
