Radical new bullet design
In an effort to keep our members up-to-date with advanced developments in the shooting industry I try to post some of the most entertaining ideas which find their way into my e-mail box. I think the last one was the jelly bean color bullets...

The principles on which it is based
"How do the gases behave during deflagration? They push in all directions and a limited quantity passes quickly beyond the bullet, making it starting its movement. The case is still stopped, sticked to the walls of the cartridge chamber and will begin to move back with the slide, only when we don't have pressure. When the superior part of Comp Bullet will be beyond the muzzle, it will discharge, through the advanced vents, an important amount of gas, creating a muzzle brake effect perfectly symmetrical, thanks to the extremely precise vents works, done by numerical control. At the same time, according to the holes inclination kind, it can create a "rocket" effect generating the opposite of the recoil energy force. As a consequence, the effect into the hand will be less violent in order to give a greater control for faster shoot. Regarding the compensated weapons or those equipped of hybrid type holes, this system anticipates the compensation work, releasing, towards the direction of the rooms, the gas jets leaking from the superior part of the bullet, before that the following one passes through the barrel equipped with hybrid holes or compensated. It deals with a bullet which is made inside of the brake muzzle properties."

I have a request in for some testing samples in the rifle bullet category so I hope to have some hands-on information at a later date.

i am thinking this bullet will be very expensive to buy, the machine work alone will be extensive and expensive to produce, my guess is about $2.50 a bullet. 
i once designed a much more destructive bullet and possibly easier to produce, it was for .357 cal. and higher calibers.
it was an "extreme'' hollow point filled with mineral oil and topped off with a gas check like seal to keep the mineral oil in the "extreme" H.P. cavity. it's purpose was a devastating effect on the human body/flesh & bone. we all know that a liquid can not be compressed.., so what do you think will happen ?
i tested it many years ago on Coyotes in Commiefornia with a .44 Rem. Mag. Ruger Deerstalker.., the bullet nearly blew the Yote in half from the "explosion" like effect.
BTW check the price of those guns, i once had both, paid less than those prices as i bought them at the Navy Exchange back around 1963-64ad0 -

When silicone rubber came out I read in technical periodicals that it wasn't compressible and thought it a good idea to fill defensive HP bullets that clog with clothing and don't expand.Filling HPs with gel should still be a good idea if you can get bubbles out and watch the finished weight.
Now it's available commercially.
Seeing is believing on these new brass bullets. I question the reduced recoil claim compared with conventional bullets of equivalent weight but I bet they'll whistle like hell.
On Herter's wasp waist bullets, has anyone proved Herter's reduced drag claims ?
I believe the principle worked on jet fighter aircraft at the time.0 -
I can't fault the idea, but I'm wondering why bleeding off some of the extra propellant gas via holes in the bullet is going to be significantly different than just using less powder (ie a lighter load) to begin with?
So, I'm a bit skeptical about the value of this invention, but I'm open to be convinced by field data.0 -
They look like something I used on a plumbing project once. I would like to know how they do. It takes forward thinkers to keep things evolving in the firearms trade. I still like the FMJ expanding bullet that folks said would never work. I just cant find any here locally, but US gov bought a bunch with some barium in them so that they could xray them and remove any to meet geneva convention rules.
I was told no way, when I brought it up 15 years ago. Now its happened. I hope something good does come from thier project, I just cant see what it is at this point.0 -

I remember reading some where that the same effect resulted by placing a drop of mercury in a hollow point and capping or covering the hollow point. The metal nature of mercury suppose to have a more dramatic effect than using a liquid in the hollow point. The only drawback I see in either case it the mess that occurs if the liquid or mercury leaks out, especially if it is in your rifle or pistol.0 -
There will not be a pure and balanced side loading on the bullet. The holes appear to be at the major diameter of the bullet, and will, to some degree, but altered by the barrel rifling. Whether it is enough to alter the flight enough to notice, is anyone's guess.
I seriously question any recoil reduction as well.
Recoil is the reaction of the rifle to the acceleration of the bullet and the expansion of the gases formed by the burning of the propellant. Muzzle brakes work by diverting some of the gas backward, and, being rigidly attached to the rifle, the force required to diver the gas pulls the rifle forward, damping some of the recoil force.
The bullet is not rigidly connected to the rifle, and the diversion of gases by the bullet will not have the effect that the same diversion has when done by a muzzle brake.
An expensive gimmick, I would think.0 -

How do you keep the power in the case? Do you put a wad over the powder? If so, how do you keep fragments of that from going into the holes and possibly obstructing one, even momentarily? Do you seat the bullet so the ports are inside the case? 0 -
