How to remove win/mod12 tube mag?
Win model 12, tube magazine has been assembled wrong. Bought extra barrel. With barrel joined and magazine connected (functions and fires ok but) the alignment arrow on the tube does not align with arrow on receiver. The arrow on tube is 90 degree out of correct alignment with receiver arrow when assembled in fire position. How to correct?

The magazine plug was improperly installed. Remove the 2 screws from the magazine plug and then remove the magazine plug lock pin. To remove the pin press it to its unlocking position and depress the small wire lock spring with a small screwdriver and withdraw the pin. Keep pressure on the magazine plug or the magazine spring will launch everything. With the plug removed realign the the mag tube so that the tube arrow is 90 degrees to the right of the receiver extension arrow as viewed from the bottom of the receiver, then turn the tube to bring the 2 arrows into alignment and lock the tube in the correct position. Finally reinstall the mag spring, shell plug if used and the mag plug and plate then the mag plug locking pin and finally the 2 magazing locking plug screws. Hope this helps. 0 -
Tks, Now there is a flat spring resting bwt mag and barrel at the joint area. One barrel ,my original has spring opposite the new barrel?, which is the correct position of this flat spring? I have seen some mod 12 even without this flat spring?
Thanks Jim I got it correct now.0 -
The action slide retaining spring should be installed with the short end toward the muzzle, long end toward the receiver with the "hump" against the barrel and the ends against the magazine tube. The spring only comes into play when separating the barrel from the action as it prevents the action slide cap from contacting the magazine band. The gun will function with or without the spring. It is hard to beat a Model 12! 0
