The Remington 870 is time proven gun, as is the Ithaca Model 37 0 -

While not my personal choice, I don't see how anyone could go wrong with an 870. 0 -
Ditto with the above. 0 -
870 hands down, tho I do love an Ithaca 37. 0 -
For the money, you can't beat an 870 and with all the available barrels, it can be a very versatile gun. Only downside is when shooting in a blind, your neighbor gets your empties. 0 -
I'm actually liking my Browning BPS better then my 870's plus with the bottom ejection the lefties in the family like it 0 -
I'd take a Benelli Nova over an 870, seven days a week, 365 days a year. I've been duck hunting in weather so bad, that two 870's shutdown almost simultaneously, both having to be completely field stripped. Nova kept running like a champ. 0 -
I tend to agree with the majority on this one. The 870 is the most used shotgun in the WORLD. The only one that might be better than that for waterfowling, and is a cross between the 870 and the Benelli NOVA is the Remington 887.

Agree with all above, however the Mossberg 500 in any of it's myriad iterations is still my choice as a go-to shotty.
Clean lines, double action arms, your choice of barrels; what's not to like?
Oh yeah-the plastic safety button. I just removed the slider and have it locked "off".0
