I have a 9mm upper for my AR. It uses sten mags with a block you install in the mag well prior loading the mags. It works very well. I dont know who made this unit as I got it from a friend. It works reliably and the mags dont work loose when firing. I'll try to get some pics posted.

    OK, here ya go.

    Block and sten mag

Block locks into mag well, is held by mag release.

Mag then locks into mag well held by the adaptor block.

Hey Lefty, that looks like just what I got direct from Olympic only I don't see any screw heads sticking out the back of the mag., my unit requires a hex screw in rear of mag for that lever shown to latch on to. I think the spring in there is way too weak cause it will back off and release the mag in rapid fire. I have to use a heavy elastic band (like girls use on pony tails) thru the trigger guard and looped over the lever, that works but it's a pain. The unit I mentioned from Brownells seems to fit flush with the mag well and hooks on the back of the mag somewhere, maybe where yours does. Exactly where on the mag does your catch engage?

There are no screws in the magazines. The latch engages just below the extra layer of metal built onto the STEN mags that wraps around the back.
