longer colt grip screws
Does anyone make a longer grip screw for a colt 1911? I have some stag grips that need a screw that is about 3/8" long, most grip screws that I have seen are 5/16". Thanks

Most grip screws are short so they will not go Through the grip screw bushing and into the Magazine well. I would think you could use a drill with something like a Glass bit to deepen the large diameter path of the screw hole. 0 -
holes in grips are as deep as you can drill them now, I can always grind the srews off if they go through into the mag. well. 0 -
Check with the customer service folks at Brownells. If any one would carry longer grip screws it wold be them. Get their phone and e-mail numbers by GOOGLEing, "Brownells gun parts" or something similar. 0 -
If you can't find the screws I reckon a few swipes of 80 grit on the back side of the stag will get you there.
The heads of the screws will sit in the counter sink of the grips right? And the (what the devil do you call those things the grip screws go in to) isn't pushing the grips off the frame.0 -
I think they are called a grip screw bushing. I once made a set of grips to fit my large hands. The heads a larger than normal for the shank size so had to go up about 3 sizes sizes turn down the shank an rethread them. You might look at aftermarket grip makers and see if any of them have longer screws. 0
