Sig 229 40 cal.
I purchased a Sig 229 in 40 cal about 4 years ago from a gun dealer it was a used gun that had been factory reconditioned. I just had someone tell me that the frame was made in Germany and the slide in the US and that it may be worth a little more than I paid for it. The serial number is AD43xxx which in a 2003 model I think. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks

My P-229 is the same and it is at least 15 years old, so I would guess that there are so many with that combination it would rule out much bump in value. The Walther PPKs made in Germany tend to command a bit more than the American versions.

Your serial number indicates the pistol is older than you're thinking.
I'm guessing you're basing this on SIG's German proof marking where A indicates 0 and D indicates 3. This marking would be found on the lower portion of the forward part of the slide. Due to being US manufactured yours won't have this stamping.
Their serial prefixes are only sequential and don't define specific years, but you can roughly date one by looking back and seeing where SIG was in their prefixes during different years.
From what I gather, AD prefixed 229's were on the market back in the '94-'95 period.0 -

Sig 229 .40 is my second back up/off duty carry gun. I use a Milt Sparks IWB holster. Excellent gun with nite sights, you will not be left holding a expensive single shot gun when things go south. I carry my Glock mainly do to weight and the temputure conditions here in the coastal South.

German manufactured SIG-Sauers typically come with three proof marks. The first is an ornamental crown with an N beneath it to indicate it was proofed with smokeless (nitrocellulose) powder. The second looks like a "squished 8-legged 2-pincered bug". This is the proof mark for the Kiel, Germany proofhouse.
Lastly, the proof house adds a two letter code to indicate the year the gun was proofed. The table above shows the letter to digit mapping. For example: Gunnutz13 P226 stamped JJ was proofed in 1988.[/b]
