91/30 and a 44
I have a 91/30 and a 44? in 762X54r and they both shoot the same ammo. A ladys husband died and she has two with actions just like mine except they are hex or octagon. She also has a lot of ammo that is different than tha 762X54r. Diameter of bullet seems to be the same but the lenth is different. The case is slightly shorter but larger diameter then the 762X54r. It also has a large rim. Did they make this rifle in a different caliber? One rifle has HMNEPATDPOKIH on the receiver and a lot of symbols I can't duplicate here. Any info out there?

Hex receivers are another variation of the Mosin/Nagant.
However, AFAIK (and I could well be wrong) they were all in 7.62x54R
If you can post pics of the other ammo w/ a known cartridge for reference I'm sure someone can ID it for you0 -

Case could be 8mm Lebel or similar. not for the mosins. 0 -
I will post picture of the two rounds side by side and when I can get back up there I will take pictures of guns. I might add her guns are in very very good condition. I have never seen A russian gun look so good. 0 -

You might take photos of the headstamps, or give us a specific description of them also.
M-N's have been coming in by the container load from the former Warsaw Pact countries for the last 10 years or so. Because of this most M-N's aren't big buck collectors guns like some of the Mausers have become.

Thorhammer is right.The left is Radway green 1947 .303 British and the right is Russian (IIRC) 1988 7.62x54. I have some of both. 0 -
If thats the case I bought a heck of a lot of 303! It was supposed to be 762X54r!![:(!] 0
