Remington 510, DOM, 1939 or 1961?
I have a Remington 510 Targetmaster .22 single-shot that I am having trouble determining the date of manufacture.
The barrel date code is AH. That would make the DOM as March of 1939 or March of 1961. Since the 510 was made fron 1939 through 1962, I am uncertain which year is correct. The rifle has a serial number of 3598 stamped on the bottom of the barrel just forward of the stock. Also stamped on the barrel is "Patents Pending". The receiver is not grooved for a scope base. My guess is that 1939 is correct, but I want to know for sure. Thanks in advance for your help.

I would think with the receiver not grooved, it might be the earlier model. Is the trigger guard fit flush on the wood or is it inletted? I have an earlier 511 that has the inlet. Once again, my 2c worth. 0 -
Trigger guard is NOT inletted; It just sits on the surface of the wood. 0 -
1939 would be correct.. The first 5XX series did not have a grooved receiver.. I believe they began grooving them after the war.. My 1959 512 is grooved.. 0
