30 06 Springfield question

Is this the same as 30 06 M2 (Greek Ball).

Is there more than one 30 06, or are they all one cartridge?
I'm looking for ammunition for a Belgium Browning BAR in 30 06 Springfield

  Only one 30-06. The greek loading might be corrosive. I had one of those rifles and it would toss out spent rounds so hot they would burn your fingers. Shot really good though with hand loaded 165 boattails.
  edit I am talking about blisters on fingers from picking up the smoking hot brass off the ground. None of my other autoloader ever did that to me.

  There is one 30-06. The M1 Garand needs one specific loading of that catridge (which your Greek milsurp ammo is). However, as said, that is likely to have a corrosive primer. Unless you want to detail strip your Browning after every shooting session and wash the parts, I would not use it.

  Listen to what 11b6r says. I would not shoot any military type ammo in that rifle, as I would be real leary of it being corrosively primed. Stick with the commercial 30-06 rounds, as that is what it was meant for.

  ALL semi auto's, even 22LR's, when they eject the spent cartridge it is hot enough to burn you. Don't believe me? Try shooting an old Hi-Standard target pistol, with the top two buttons on a button down shirt open...it will enlighten you. With ALL semi-auto's, there is not enough time spent in the chamber for the discharged round to let the barrel heat sink the temperature out of the brass. It only takes a couple seconds in the chamber to cool the brass so it does not burn.

  The stuff I looked at is advertised with the CMP as non-corrosive, boxer-primed, and reloadable brass cases.

  I'm confident that if CMP says it's noncorrosive, then it's safe. The Greek M2 ammo has been sold for quite a while now and I've not heard any reports of corrosive primers.

  To second the last response, it is non corrosive. It's made to M2 specs, though probably at the high end as it is a bit warm depending on the year. It's perfectly safe in your BAR, I've seen many thousands shot of it including out of the BAR with no issue. No one in the western world was using corrosive primers in the late 60s through the 80s, when this stuff was made, other than for a few specialty operations.
  
  The only corrosive 30-06 you might encounter is some years of KA Korean, French (which is dangerous due to weak brass), and anything from the 50s or earlier.

  Jonk is right about the french stuff--I had 50 rounds or so and when the second case cracked just forward of the solid head, I pulled the rest of the bullets and poured the powder into some LC cases and seated the bullets in those.
  
  Also FWIW: I have a quantity of the Greek ammo and chronographed it on my Oehler; 115 rounds of headstamp HXP71 averaged 2677 fps fired from half a dozen Garands. 65 rounds of HXP78 averaged 2686 fps.
