    Just my opinion (and keep in mind that I am a WINCHESTER Single Shot guy), but that gun was very carefully redone. I do not believe that it should have a flaming ordnance bomb stamped on the left rear side of the slide?

    Like I said, I am not a Model 1911 expert. Thanks for update. What is your take on the gun in question?

    i say it has to much were in sliding parts not to have ext. wear. If anything it was redone by colt. Finish does look factory but not OG

    First, I would love to have that.
    Second, shouldn't "United States Property" be stmaped on ther somewhere or did that come later?

    Nice looking gun, but for some reason, some of the stampings look like they were polished by a southpaw. I would tend to agree that it looks restored. But still, it shold bring a good $$, since all of the parts are there.

    I am sure Karl/perry shooter will be along to settle this shortly.

    The finish looks to good to be true to me. Unless it the photography, the mat finish doesn't look correct. See photo above, the blue finish appears different.

    I'm with Bert on this one. Looks like a decent redo. The handful of early original 1911's that I've handled seem to have closer frame to slide evidence at the rear, no?
    Can't comment on the appropriateness of various markings, but it just doesn't look right to me.

    well i can say i have a first month serial # of a 70 series that has Orginal box,papers and had only been shot 6x's by a family member and put away and it BARELY looks this good, let alone a GI version. i am not buying it is Orginal unless it sat in a ammo depot for 50+

    Yes this is a very interesting pistol. I really wish I could hold it in my hand. The great thing is can you Imagine that every 1911 ever made when to the Military looking like this one and that they sold for somewhere both north and south of $20.00 on military contract.then 96 years later here we are looking at it . I would like to have a day with original drawing numbers and spec of every dimension to check with Micrometer. Kasey is beyond reproach and has some of the finest guns available for sale from time to time. But she has no control of what information she receives on any Item. I am a BIG Colt fan so have NO interest in any 1911 type pistol made by someone else . Yea right You do believe that don't you. I sure hope Locust Fork uses this for a GIVAWAY and limits the people that can enter to just skinny old guys that will leave 99 % of you guys out. BUT NOT ME[^]

    I'd like to have the gun in front of me with bright lighting & a 10x loupe.

    But, from what I can see, it looks to me like the lettering has been recut with a pantograph & engraver. The metal surface does not have the right texture, & the bluing is too light. Without a hands-on exam, I would have to assume it is a restoration.

    And what about the eagle stamp by the ejection port [?]
