5.45x39 other than semi?

Anyone make a bolt action or single shot in 5.45x39? If not how hard would it be for a good gunsmith to re chamber a rifle to 5.45x39 & what would the base gun need be?

  About 15 years ago Century Arms imported a few thousand SSG82 sniper rifles which were supposed to have been used by the former East German Border guards. These were all in like new condition and came with high quality optics. At that time the 5.45 cartridge was not nearly as popular as it is today and there was not much interest in those rifles. Today they sell for over a grand and are hard to find.

  I never bought Centuries hype that the were sniper/military rifles. The way the stocks were shaped it appeared that they were made for off-hand shooting.
  
  There is a shooting sport/discipline in Europe know as "running boar". That's what I think those East German rifles were actually made for.
  
  Problem with rechambering a .223 barrel to 5.45 X 39 is that the Russian round is approximately .002/.003 smaller in diameter then .223/5.56 X 45. Some accuracy is bound to be lost.

  I'm pretty sure I saw Savage 200s listed in 5.45 on the Savage site. You may have to ask a dealer to order one for you.

  I heard that Savage is going to offer the Model 25 in 5.45 which would make a light, handy rifle for plinking and varmints IF it's accurate enough.

  I looked on there site it's not there. Heck I would be happy with a single shot, beats breaking down the 74'.

  If they did, they would be wrong.
  The .220 Russian ca 1968, is the 7.62x39 necked down; not the same as the AK 74 round, the 5.45x39.

  5.45x39R or 5.45x39 Russian are a couple other names for it. I did hear a guy once refer to it as a .223 Russian I guess, but don't see that as being correct either. Makes me think of Wolf, etc. .223 ammo.
