S&W M-41 .22 Early Model Ok for California?

Is a S&W M-41 serial 70,xxx ok for Calif.? The M-41 is on the Ok list but I think that is for a brand new gun from Smith. Anyone?

  Simple. Call the CA DOJ. They will tell you the straight scoop.

  DOJ is hit or miss, especially by phone.
  
  New manufacture Smith & Wesson 41 with a 5.5" or 7" barrel are on the list. The Smith & Wesson 41 can also be brought in to CA via the Olympic exemption:

  I could be wrong, it has been known to happen but I seem to recall that the Olympic exception refers to pistols with detachable magazines in front of the trigger. This only applies to the pistols that are designed specifically for Olympic style rapid fire.

  In general, no. However if one happened to have pre-ban 41 magazines then importing a 12 round magazine rebuild kit is allowed so long as the result is repairing current stock, not adding to. A rebuild kit is the mag disassembled.
  
  Regarding the "mag in front of trigger" that is an exception to the CA Assault Weapon law because a pistol with a detachable magazine located outside the grip is considered an assault weapon in CA - the rimfire Ruger Charger being an example of such deadly weaponry CA must be protected against ... [:o)]
