high end scope
I am looking for some advice on a high end scope. I am looking at the Leupold VX-7, Leica ER and Schmidt&Bender Summit. All scopes are in the 2.5-10 power range. I am aware of the specs on the scopes and they are all in the $1300-$1500 range. I can't find the Lecia and the S&B in my local area and would like to see one before I order it. The rifle that it will be mounted on is a Magnum Research Mountain Eagle in 280 that I use in a blind. Any information on field or range experience would be helpful. (I am leaning toward the Lecia at this time.)

take a look at the Nightforce rifle scopes, NXS 3.5-15 x 50 F1 i have one of these, i also searched all the scopes in the $1,500.00 - $2,500.00 range, this is the same scope some of our SEALS and other U.S. Military snipers use.

Those are excellent choices and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them! I am a Leupold fan but if I were you, I'd go with the S&B as my first choice and a toss between Leupold and Leica. IIRC, Leupold made some scope for Leica but not sure if the ER is one of them.
Good luck and happy safe hunting/shooting.0 -
OK, in order for you to see one, we need to know what area you are in. Personally, with the other two names, I would leave the Leupold out of the question, and look at the Zeiss, or Swarovski. There is a new kid on the block too, that I am favorably impressed with, and the name is Vortec Optics. I have a Vortex Viper PST on a GAP-10, and am in love with it, and it is under $1K. I also own Nightforce, S&B, Zeiss, Leupold, Burris, and Nikon.
