I have several guns I need to sell to assist in paying the funeral of our Daughter who passed away from Sarcoma. She was only 46 and had no insurance.
If any one can assisit me in determing a price I would greatly appreciate it.

Please list a description of the guns and photos if able. The better photos the closer to a real world price you will get. Sorry for your loss, many members on this board are the top in their field of expertise on guns.
If you are sell them on the auction side you will receive the market rate as that is the greatest exposure to customers you will find.0 -
I'm sorry for your loss. Those on this forum will do what we can to help. It would be best if you could post a description of each gun; if that's not enough to give you an estimate, we may ask you for photos. Do you have photos?
My experience is that the Gunbroker auction site will get you top dollar, but it may take 1-2 months to go through the process.

IMO your best bet is to use the auctions here to determine "Real World" values.
Go to the auction side, type in your make/model in the search box.
Then look for gun of approx same condition and see what they are bringing in bids. Try to find gun that have actual bids. As even here, some guns are overpriced. One has to remember that the buyer also pays shipping cost and FFL receiver fees. Which would add approx $50. to each winning bid amount. But can be considered as a part of the value the winning bidder was willing to pay.
Many auctions take a gun that has X value, and ask X price. Then the shipping/receiving costs put the price OVER value. See how it works?0 -
This is a list of my guns, I will take some pictures and post them a little later. All the guns are in very good condition and I have shot them all at one time or another
1. Remington 12 Gauge Sportsman 58 SN 179406V.
History: My Fathers Gun, I have had since his death in 1973.
2. Marlin 22 LR Model 40 SN 70248857
History: I bought new in Baudette, MN @ Coast to Coast 1969.
3. Winchester Model 94 30 - 30 SN 1892865
History: Bought from a OKIE, name was Caudell, in 1967 for $15.00
4. Smith and Wesson 22/32 Gun Kit SN M17352.
History: Was my Mothers , Dad bought it new $110.00 in 1950's.
I have a couple others, but they are fairly new a Pardner 410, a pardner 20 Ga and a rough rider 22 revolver Probably not worth very much.

Tom- I'm sorry for your loss, understand $$ realities. Please note- when you sell the guns, there is a "sticky" at the top of the thread about shipping guns. Not to repeat it all, but shipping of rifles or shotguns can be by UPS Ground or by US Mail- fairly cheap. HANDGUNS, like your kit gun, cannot be mailed except by a dealer. They CAN be shipped Next Day Air on UPS or FedEx- at very high costs (about $70) You may be better off finding a local dealer that you can pay a fee to mail it for you by US Mail- those flat rate boxes are great.
If you put them up on Gunbroker, please stop back by the forum, and put in a plug for the auction.

take good pictures from every angle, describe them completely and accurately, and list them for sale here. its very nearly a guarantee that you will get fair market for them. the only real question is whether what the market determines is fair is enough for you.
a side note for you. unless the previous owner is famous and the provenance is intact, people wont pay for stories. your sentimentality over a certain item will most likely not translate into more money on the sale.

I VERY VERY VERY much disagree with starting the auction at a $1. One your new which will discourage bids. Second just because what it sold for doesn't mean that is what it's worth. These guys can tell you that the day an auction end or the time and many other things can effect the final bid price. Check what they bring in the condition you have and start around that price. It may not sell right away, but it will sell. Starting at a $1 is taking a big chance. 0 -

Let me say first, I am sorry for the loss and wish you and yours peace. Secondly, Have you set up a fund at a local bank for assistance for your family? I know that I and probably many other members would be happy to help your family out. Something as simple as the bank mailing address and such would give us a way to help a fellow member out. I am a member of the FOP and PBA, and we use this alot with family member losses.
