Colt 1911 45 acp - how much
I would appreciate advice about the value of this handgun. I noted from other auction descriptions that there seem to be a variety of stamps and markings that will determine how "correct" the weapon is. Here are a several photos I took. http://photobucket.com/cott1911

Eye strain set in before I could completely examine your photos, but I believe that you have a Colt "black Army" 1911 which would be very valuable & desirable ---- in good original condition.
Unfortunately, I think that:
---it has been arsenal rebuilt & refinished at least once (AA = Augusta Arsenal)
---the original wood grips have been replaced with WW2 plastic grips
---the original barrel has been replaced with a blued WW2 replacement barrel that a previous owner has parkerized.
---the slide & receiver have extensive surface rust over which a previous owner has attempted to apply parkerizing.
I would expect it to sell in the $500-600 range. To find actual sales results for similar guns, search Gunbroker completed auctions using the search words "Colt 1911 arsenal".

EDIT: I think that we got a reasonable & polite explanation from the OP. I wish everyone did as good a job.
However, Mr Burch, if you intent was to provide additional information for prospective bidders through your photographs, you are still deficient in that area. To get the most information (& the highest bids), your photos must be IN FOCUS, well lit, & close enough to read all markings. We still can't see the inspectors markings (left side behind the trigger) or the markings on the top of the frame after the slide is removed.

I concur with Neal This MAY very well be a shooter grade 1911 But ALL collector value has been destroyed. Use It shoot It and enjoy it .Value $400-$600. 0 -
It appears to be the same one you inquired about last month? Nothing has changed in a month. It's still a Augusta Arsenal, W W II rework, that was rode hard and put away wet. Value as a shooter only, unless you can find some guy who just fell off the turnip wagon and doesn't know any better. 0 -

I want to thank those who have responded. And yes this is the same handgun about which I posted over a month ago. Having taken the advice I was offered at that time and taking more detailed pictures, I was simply seeking to establish what a fair value would be so I could offer it for auction with appropriate expectations.
As I read description of other similar handguns I was struck by specific reference to stampings and other marks. I just wanted to insure that I had appropriate pictures and details on the item when I listed it for sale.
I neither wish to deceive anyone nor troll, other than to seek advice and expertise.

Even with it's shortcomings it's still a Colt 45, and I'd say it should sell for a minimum of $600. 0
