Marlin 336 Hammer Ext with scope
Does anyone use the hammer extension. I mounted a scope on my 336 and do not think their is a problem or am I missing something?

There is no problem. Been using one on my Marlin 336 for years. I consider it a necessity in cold weather with gloves on to safely manipulate the hammer. 0 -
High mount (see-through) the scope and it is not needed. Most people don't like the see-through mounts.
If you mount the scope low, you almost have to use the extension. Especially, as the other poster said, when you wear gloves.0 -
Thanks guys. Forgot about the gloves, 0 -
I also have been using them forever. Just remember to keep checking so that it doesnt loosen up. I used loctite on mine. They work well. 0 -
i have a 30AS with high mounts (see thru) and i love them other than cheek placement is a weird but once you do you will love them, and plenty of room for ext. hammer 0 -
You're kidding , right ? See through mounts are the second most useless thing in the WORLD ! 0 -
I've been using them on my 336 and 1894P for several years and they provide a much more secure thumb purchase, especially with gloves, as mentioned. 0 -
I have to agree with oneoldsap. What is the most useless thing in this world? 0 -
using see thru mounts makes using a scope very inaccurate, and is for wannabe hunters 0 -
Been hunting with 30-30 336 for 16 yrs w/see-thru mounts & accuracy has never been a problem. 1" groups at 75 yds with my 180 gr. RN loads meets my needs. Hammer extension very handy also, use it all the time. 0
