Can/Will anyone tell me the trick to removing the Mag. release on a EAA-Witness?

Also if I remove a roll pin (ex. Extractor) can I re-use it or does it need to be replaced with a new one?

  I have a Springfield model 940E .410 single shot shotgun. The gun still shoots & functions OK. But the hammer is loose. Except when cocked. When not cocked, you can move it back & forth, and side to side in the channel.
  Before I attempt to disassemble, wondering if anyone has any experience with these? My guess is that the either the hole thru the hammer that the pin fits thru is worn. Or the pin itself. Are these tricky or easy to work on /fix? IE: Should I try myself or pay gunsmith?

  I would call this a "perforated prophylactic"; if it works, don't screw with it.

  Back and forth is ok, side to side spooks me a little. Can you get the hammer to drop on an empty chamber by pushing/wiggling the hammer? If not I wouldn't worry as this is not a high $ gun. If its anything like the H&R Topper in construction they are easy to work on; however they have tricks. Some of the pins are one way, the have small fins on one end and cannot be driven all the way through. To get the trigger assembly back in you need to make an assembly pin to hold the stuff together in order to line up all the parts for the afore menchioned one way pin.

  the hammer not moving when cocked it what is important. replacing the hammer and the hammer pin would solve your problem but it is nothing i would really worry about.
  on that model.. you DO NOT need slave pins to put it back together. the problem for you would be the hammer spring. it can be done without much problem. 25 min job.

  Thanks. If I were keeping it, I wouldn't worry. But I want to give it to my nephew. Want to be sure it's safe. Can get parts. Can anyone give a step by step process?
