what high quality manufacturers make the 1911 frame in 45acp or 9mm?

Nobody. The 1911 is a SA auto.

There were some mutants years ago, I think the ODI was made by Essex but those are long gone.

Usually it was an aftermarket gunsmithin' to get DA off a 1911 frame. Seecamp did and few other places follwed. Colt had the Double Eagal that was a factory jobby. Just the frame? You'll ahve o buy and have it done.

ODI (Omega Defense Industries?) & Essex made DA/SA conversion frames & gunsmith kits many moons ago. They sometimes come up for sale.
