glock sights swap
I want to put tritium sights on my glock. I'm on an extremely tight budget. I don't have the money to buy an expensive sight tool/press. Assuming I get the sights for christmas, how difficult would it be to swap the rear using a brass punch, a hammer, and some care? The front sight won't be a problem.

Just tap out the plastic rear. See how tight the new rear is. You might have to file it a little to fit it. A lot depends on the brand you get.
On the front, put some BLUE Loc-tite on it, the screw and slide.
Some of them twist when snuging down the screw.
EDIT--- some brand of night sights come with a hard plastic punch to tap the rear with. These won't harm the tritium vial as they absorb the shock. Most rears have set screws to lock them down.0 -

Send me your slide and I will install them for you, I have the sight tool to do the job. I tried the brass punch one time and ended up ruining the rear sight. If you hit the sight too hard you can shatter the tube that encloses the tritium. 0 -
Take CS8161's offer.
Whacking on a tritium sight is asking for a cracked lamp.
Heck, it took three tries for Glock to get functional night sights on my g19.0 -

I will probably take you up on that. However, it may be a while yet before I have sights to be installed. I will deal with the factory sights until then.0 -
These sights have to be pressed in or the sight WILL be damaged.
The front sight has to be absolutely straight before Loctiting.
There is a little wiggle in the fit.0
