Quite a unusual and seldom encountered rifle. Should be chambered for our 30-06 cartridge. "F.P." was the Force Public, i.e. the paramilitary colonial police/security force who tried to police the Belgian Congo.

Ball has only one mismatched one listed in his book. The receiver is in the 12,XXX range and the bolt is in the 25,XXX range.

If they are that uncommon and yours is authentic it should be worth some bucks to a Mauser military rifle collector.

Besides the rifles Browning High Power pistols also were used and marked with the "F.P." designation. Years ago I had a chance to buy one of the High Powers and I let it slip through my fingers. I still regret it.

Sounds like a very interesting find. Photos would be very helpful for us to see what you have and give you some idea as to value.
