Win, Model 62 DOM

Howdy,

Looking for the DOM of a Winchester-62, Serial #- 12494

From what I can find, this is fairly early example of the 62?

Anything I should look for that may interest collector value?

    It is an early Model62 Rifle... July 1933 to be precise. The graded condition is the most important factor if the collector interest & value.

    DOM-- got it and thank you kindy once again, Bert. Always like running into older Winchesters, as I know where to turn to get the straight answer.

    Um, that said, this little matter about "graded condition" you mention? Well yes, it is in the eye of the beholder, meaning as ambiguous as all get out. So, again turned to Thee Experts by performing a search using just that term and came up with this...
    Glossary of Terms used to describe old Guns
    MINT CONDITION: Factory new, all original.
    MINTY CONDITION: Same as above, except for the scattered pitting.
    GOOD FOR ITS AGE: NRA poor to horrible.
    SHOWS HONEST USE: A piece of junk.
    SHOWS WEAR & USE: What is not worn paper thin is missing or broken., etc, etc.

    Take some very clear and well lit pictures...the more the better, of all the markings, and stocks and forarm. Post theme here, or send them to Bert's private mail, and you will get an exact EXPERT opinion on the condition of the rifle, and most likely the current going value.

    I have had folks ask me what the value of this "old gun" is before. I told them that it is depending on configuration, originality, and condition(restorations do NOT count), then give them a bottom end, and top end range(immediately their mind is set on the top end range). Months later, when I finally get to see the firearm, and tell them that it is a 50-60% shooter grade, they get cranky, and say but it is old, it is in great shape for as old as it is. No, not exactly, if it is near 100% it would still look just like it did from the factory 80-100 years ago.

    Tsr, thanks also for replying.

    And to clarify-- I have no photos which to send or to post. Same as in my other recent running post about the "Marlin, older Model..." of which is one-and-same endeavor in helping a friend and may be some time before seeing them again. I surely wished I had a camera for that '93!

    That stuff about graded condition and my re-posting what Bert contributed some time ago was just for laughs. (A remedy found mighty beneficial for stuffed shirts I understand? ;o)

    Point is, condition I'm aware of. And in retrospect, what I should have asked is "anything specific to look for of interest or collector value that someone could name?".
    Especialy if could not zero down the DOM, which now obtained has tied it altogether very pleasingly.

    As of now, I highly doubt there is anything to set this one apart, yet always open for clues.
