Need advice dealing with difficult buyer
Help me out. Has anyone ever has a sale where the buyer seemed to call everyday and want to know every detail? I have a buyer who is driving me to distraction. He was worried about sending a check through the mail, he calls and yells if he things are going wrong (just out right panics.) No that he has seen the gun (an O/U) he wants to know where the choke tubes are! I described it as "barrel markings indicate Mod and Full chokes for the barrels"
What works best-patience or screaming! What do you more experienced sellers do?
After the second phone call I shuold have sent the money back. Hindsight is alway perfect.

I've had a couple of buyers who needed a little reassurance, & that's OK with me.
But screaming? Only my wife gets to do that!
You can talk to most people as if they are adults, but you have to talk to some as you would a 10 year old child. Assuming that your description was clear & photos showed all markings, he should have very few questions. Tell him exactly what you will do (email him when you receive payment, email him when you ship, etc); if that's not good enough, then ask him if he wants to back out of the deal.
Some folks are nervous about checks. Just tell him to write FOR DEPOSIT ONLY on the back of the check, & send it 1st class mail; only someone with a bank account with your name on it can cash the check.

Simply tell him that it doesn't have screw in chokes as per barrel stamps . Sounds like your buyer isn't very experienced with shotguns . Now if you already have payment in hand , just shipping the shotgun to him is an option ! But that could garner you a negative feedback ( not righteous ) which you could probably get removed . 0 -
I had one old guy that just needed to be reassured. Could be his 1st internet purchase, or he could have been scammed before by someone. Be patient. 0 -
When I was still doing the auctions I had a number of ugly incidents, ranging from buyers backing out of deals, to criminals trying to scam me into obtaining guns they never even bid on. I got so fed up I just quit the auctions.
From your description of the deal with the phone calls and choke tube fiasco your probably going to have more trouble with this clown. I had these kind of buyers myself. Just flat out tell him to send back the shotgun and you will refund his money less shipping and dealers fees. It's just not worth the aggravation and BS to put up with AH's like this, IMHO.0 -
Its a pain in the butt but keep talking to him. E-mail back once a day to answer questions and keep him happy. The deal will be over soon enough. 0 -

Don't like checks--use a USPS Money order. Thats the only form of payment I accept for internet purchases. Send it with a tracking number and thats about as safe as you can get. 0 -
I had a guy who called and emailed incessantly with questions on a 56S folder, insisting he was waiting for some cash ,any day now,and was on fire to buy it.
He kept me going for at least a month and dropped out.
Another "tire kicker" had a similar pattern for a TT33 conversion and Chinese accoutrements.
I'd advise dropping him.0
