Ackley wrote glowing articles on .17 cal wildcats. One in particular on how they easily knocked over ferule donkeys in the Southwest desert.
The 17 Hornet sounds interesting if a better bullet selection is produced.
There was only one available bullet at that time which in addition to being tiny and hard to handle, was very soft and easily distorted during loading. Some didn't reach my targets and may have come apart around 3500fps.
I gave up a project because of that.
Another issue to consider is noise and blast increase over the quiet 22 Hornet.
