Henry Big Boy

Need some help here......I have a Henry Big Boy and am trying to find the serial number on the gun.

Hopefully, there is a few owners of this gun in the membership here.

    My brother and his wife are getting his FIL a Big Boy(44mag) for x-mas.

    Question he asks is: what to buy to clean the brass with that won't hurt the wood?

    I would not recommend the use of Brasso on any firearm that doesnt have severely corroded brass. It contains an abrasive substance that will leave scratch marks on the brass that will lead to furthur tarnishing.
    There are several brands of non-abrasive brass polishes on the market. They consist of chemical soaked cotton batting in a sealed tin container. you simply rub a piece of the cotton batting on the brass and all tarnish is removed. You can further clean off any residual chemical with a clean soft cloth and your brass will be bright and shiny and have no scratches.
    This type of brass cleaner can be had at any well stocked hardware store.

    It's called "Never Dull" and I've used it since the 1960's. You can get it at Walmart. Great stuff.

    I dont think these guns will ever obtain the value of say a Winchester model 66 BUT IMHO anything that is BRASS looks BETTER with Patina. this goes for Antique Muzzle loaders to lamps to sculpture. I have never seen anyone that appraised anything that was brass and say "this would be worth more if you polished it".
