I have a browning 222
Serial number is "5614Y7" How do I tell year? model? And rough idea of worth? My dad gave to me and been in my gun safe for a decade. He said it was from 60's he thinks.

I already checked every link in there for rifle's and did not see any that has examples that matched the format NNNNAN

I believe you have a Belgian Browning made in 1967. For some reason the Browning web-site doesn't include the Belgian made rifles in their data base.
5614 would be the actual serial number. "Y" would be the model designation and "7" would be the date 1967.
They were made in a number of different grades, with both Sako & FN actions, some quite valuable. Best to post quality photos, one of our folks might be able to identify it.
This was the time frame that the infamous "Salt Wood" rifles were sold by Browning. Maybe that is the reason they aren't included in Brownings data base.0 -
Browning now offers history letters. I would talk to one of the ladies and see if it can be lettered. 0
