Smith & Wesson Revolvers in 38 S&W
I've seen H&R's, H&A's, American Bulldog, and many other pocket pistols in 38 S&W, but I was wondering what S&W revolvers were made in 38 S&W?
I have one single action Smith, I think it is a 1 1/2, in 38 S&W.

Smith & Wesson Single Action .38, three models, Double Action .38 four or five models, Safety Hammerless .38 three or four models.
I think you could get Single Shot barrels in .38 S&W as well as .22 and .32.
Thousands and thousands of Military & Police British contract, Lend Lease, and Victory models. Some commercial M&Ps in .38 S&W instead of .38 Special.
.38 Regulation Police and Terrier.
Phew.
The collectors can refine and add to the list, but the main answer is A Lot.0 -
The 38 S & W was a Black Powder cartridge dating to the late 1870's. It was quite popular and made almost continuously between then and at least the 1950's, by S & W in many different revolver models. 0 -
I was bidding on a very nice Regulation Police in its original matching box at an auction recently. I bid up to $1000 and still lost it. They are very hard to find. Next time I'll get it. 0 -
I guess what I'm looking for then is a double action made in the smokeless era, after 1900, like an M&P British or Victory model. 0 -

Skeez..perhaps a S&W Terrier? The Chiefs Special was introduced from the get-go in .38 S&W Special. Some Terriers had 'transition' frames, which looked like 'J's. Do you perhaps have the 'I' frame?
Joe
EDIT
Skeez..If you're questioning whether or not you have the 'I' frame, the 'J' frame has the trigger guard bow considerably smaller in the front than in the back. The 'I' frame bow looks like a scaled-down 'K' frame trigger guard bow..which looks much more like a natural oval shape. Best, Joe0 -
Yes indeed , this one ( of several S&W's) I own is the I frame version ???
Thanks !
