Winchester 12 ga Barrel Identification

I came across an old 20 5/16 in. Winchester Shotgun barrel in 12 ga. I am trying to determine the model that it belongs too. The markings are "Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating arms co. New Haven, Connecticut, U.S.A
Pat. Nov.25, 90, Dec.6, 92, July.21, 96, Feb.22, 98, Jun.14, 98, Oct.16,1900, Dec.25,06, Jul.5,10 12 GA. CYL

It looks just like a 97 barrel but there are two extractor slots on the end by the threads. My 97 barrel does not have those slots on it. Does the barrel of the breakdown version of the 1897 differ from the non-break down version?

  In answer to your question, Yes, it does. The patent dates strongly suggest that it is a Model 1897 barrel for an "E" series gun.

  It is obviously for a solid frame gun. Probably a model 93 or early Model 97.

  It is most definitely not for a Model 1893, or a Model 1897 solid frame.
  
  The last patent date found on the "B" series Model 1893 barrel is the Dec.6.92 date.
  
  The Jun.14.98 patent date is for the Take Down system found on the Model 1897.

  I beg to differ with you Bert. I have several series D and E guns and none of them have the extgractor cut shown in the pictures. My "pre M97" solid frame gun has the same extractor cuts as shown in the pictures.

  The barrel in question is for a Solid Frame Model 1897 E-series Riot Gun. The stamped markings on the bottom of the barrel are typical, and they are not ordnance marks.

  I agree with you in that it is a Model 1897 Solid Frame barrel. That said, and based on the patent dates, it is an E-series barrel.
