#5 mk1 carbine questions
I have a No5 MK1 ROF (F) Enfield carbine dated 9/44 that checks out as real (all the right machining, sights and markings). It has a solid bolt handle.
All numbers match and the bolt ball is the only part that doesn't look right.
Is the early date a possible reason for no bored out handle?
Any other thoughts?

i'm no expert on the jungle carbines but i have two and have researched them a bit. i never heard of any that came with a solid bolt handle. the no 5's saw extensive use well after the war in a number of countries. many were arsenal rebuilt with the most common replacements being the barrels and bolt assembly.
it's not uncommon to find forced matched pats.
not saying that's what happened to yours.
pics would help.
great guns.

It's been around long enough that most anything could have been done.
Doesn't really matter as long as it shoots. I just never saw one with an undrilled matching bolt before.0
