    I don't believe Roosevelt's Krags were issued in any particular block of serial numbers. As there are less than two hundred of them still known to exist, I think it would be worth the $35 to find out if Springfield Research can identify your carbine.

    Alternatively, there is apparently a listing of the 1st Volunteer Cavalry 1896 carbines in Franklin Mallory's book "The Krag Rifle Story" on pages 253-272. Perhaps you can find someone with a copy or get one at your local library through their inter-library loan system.

    Note that not every carbine was documented so, if it isn't listed, its usage by Roosevelt's troopers would be pure speculation.
