Scope
I am looking for a good..not great scopr for a Winchester Model 70 30-06. The P.O.S on it now has such a narrow field of view. I would like one that allows for more of a full field view. Any suggestions?

I mounted a red dot scope on my SuperBlackhawk 44mag my problem is after about 8 shot the scope moves.I have tighten and retighten the screws on the rings.what can I do to stop this from happening.[url][/url]

Really depends on your budget, but if your looking for something that is around the same price as the Leupold you already have, look at Burris scopes. I very much like both Burris and Leupold. Leupold usually gives a little better eye relief, but Burris gives a small edge in clarity and bigger edge in low-light situations.
Another thing that would help, would be to get something with a bigger diameter. I am guessing yours is probably a 3-9x40? Maybe look at a 3-9x50. Just throwing out some ideas.

Like the previous poster says, it all depends on your budget, and the shooting conditions you want to meet.
For all practical purposes, the human eye pupil's will dialate to their largest state of approximately 5mm. So we try to get the exit pupil of the scope, for maximum light transmission to 5mm too. The exit pupil is determined by the size of the objective lense(40mm in your case), divided by the power setting. Theoretically, barring the light transmittive coatings that optics have, a 40mm objective lens will transmit the most light(5mm or larger exit pupil), at or under 8x power.
I do suggest the Burris line of scopes, especially their Signature, and Black Diamond series. With Burris, you simply get more bang for the $$, than Leupold(so over rated these days). If you have a steep budget to play with, there are other's from the European market, and domestic market that will blow any of the more common names like Burris, Leupold, Bushnell, and Nikon out of the water. If you want to go higher power, you will need to go with a bigger objective lens.Best

Well, NightForce are not the only top notch competitors on the block now that are USA based. There is the New, and up and coming Vortex Optics. I have not tried their Razor series yet, but do have two of their Viper PST series scopes...one first focal plane, and one second focal plane. They fit the $1k or under bracket nicely, have some very nice features, and I believe they are a step above ANY Leupold MK 4, and nipping on the NF NXS.0 -

The best optics I have found for the money (under $200) is the Weaver 4x12x44. I have hunted for two years now with mine and some weather has been rainy, some below 20 degrees. I have not noticed a "fog" in the lense with any weather condition. Also, the early morning, late evening light loss is visible through the lense.
When I was shopping for a scope, I looked at this one against the higher prices Nikons and Leupolds. I did not find better quality untill I was in the $700 price range.

Thank all of you. I really appreciate the info. Ya'll are correct that mine is a 40mm. Ill look at your suggestions.
