    I had a very similar problem with one of there 45 "Long Slide" top ends, I bought at a gunshow. It had never functioned because the extractor mortice in the slide had never been machined correctly. I opened the mortice with needle files, so that the extractor was functional, i.e. extract .45 brass correctly so that the ejector could kick it out.

    From your description there is not enough clearance between the slide and frame for the fired brass to be extracted. As AMT parts are made of quite soft stainless steel I would carefully file either the slide or frame to remove enough metal, so that the .22 mag brass can be extracted correctly.

    Before grinding I'd cut a coil off the recoil spring or buy a lighter weight spring to do this to.
