Need to know what my Daiwoo .223 is worth. I know there were only 800 imported several years ago.

  Need much more information and photos. There were a number of different Daiwoo models imported in the 80's and 90's. Some are quite valuable and have attained almost cult status among some knowledgeable U.S. collectors. There is a "STICKY" near the top of the first page giving instructions for posing photos.

  First you need to spell it right it is Daewoo. Second of all contact DRP-AZ on these pages, he is the resident Daewoo expert.

  If the statement "around 800" were imported is accurate, that would make it a DR300.
  
  I assure you there are FAR more than 800 of any of the other models. Many of the basic types of rifle go by several different models.
  
  For instance:
  
  The wire stocked "K1" can, depending on the importer be emblazoned with the model K1, AR110c or Max I.
  
  The folding stock pre-89 gas piston rifle K2 can, depending on the importer be emblazoned with the model K2, AR-100, or Max II.
  
  The thumbhole rifles, imported between 1991-1994 are all marked DR200 or DR300, the DR300 being the 7.62x39mm version. It isn't worth much, as it's a rare rifle which takes goofy and hard to obtain magazines (Although the C-products mags reportedly worked well in them) and have notoriously weak bolts. There's a DR300 which has been languishing on GB for MONTHS, because all the lugs are sheared off the bolt.
  
  There is no parts availability, except for what I and a couple others manufacture, or what has been taken from complete rifles which have been "parted out" or, rarer yet, ones which have been purchased as "parts kits" from seized rifles, or salvaged parts from blown up rifles. The 7.62x39mm rifles are even harder to find parts for. It is not, and probably will never be economically feasible for me to have a machinist manufacture a run of bolts for the 7.62x39mm gun from better material. We have an idea how it could be done and make a stronger bolt, but as with anything, price matters and by the time we got them done and done PROPERLY, they'd be cost-prohibitive and no one would buy them.
