Ranger- 22 LR No Serial-No other marking's?
Today I strolled in a new local Gun Shop/. Found this Ranger 22 LR bolt action,it is apearant it is a old Target rifle.Hoping it's a Winchester.Old enough to not have a serial number.Need your expertise.Safety and rear sight is missing. The barrel & reciever has Unertle type scope block drilling & tapping. Also has been drilled on the receiver for modern scope block's.Took it to the range & it cycles and fires fine.Bright shiny bore.Metal buttplate,5 shot magazine.Small circle with a 7 in it by receiver on barrel.
What have I bought/found?

A little googling says it is a Sears branded version of the Stevens 416. One similar to yours pictured at

Note that the real Stevens 416 has a beavertail stock without the stepdown at the tip.0 -
I've got a Sears Ranger ... mines a single shot but it has a serial number IIRC its a Savage and was made in 1934. I picked it up about 10 years ago for $60 without a rear appature. Its also pretty accurate and very well made.
