    That $1.25 part is kind of tricky to put in.
    MAKE SURE THE PLUNGER IS NOT JUST GONE... But if you take your time and use a big, clear plastic bag to put the gun in so when it flys out, you can do it yourself. You can get it from Beretta or Brownells.

    EDIT, you need the safety plunger and spring. Numbers 26+27 on Brownells schematic.

    Thanks Dick;

    I wish that I knew the exact name of the part, I'll email Brownells.

    I had a Tomcat with similar problem, and must warn you: bad things happen everytime you remove the grips.

    Trust me on this one.

    @Jorge;
    Can I bet that you mean that I'd better not try to do it myself... Right?

    That's why I said to use a clear plastic bag you can get both hands in to do it. It catches the plunger when it flys away.
    Trust me, as there is one around here--- somewhere [:(]

    Am I getting close? What's next to remove?
    Does the lever come straight out?

    You are there. Cock the hammer and move the safety up and down while pulling on it.
    Putting it back together is the hard part. If you have a vice, pad the jaws with cardboard of leather. Clamp the grip in it.
    Put the spring then the plunger in the tube. Start the safety in untill it just touches the plunger. This is where you put the big, clear bag over it. Take something thin and put it between the plunger and safety, then work the safety in. It's a little trickey but this is the easy to do it. If the plunger flys out the bag stops it and lets it fall stright down instead of going to outerspace.
    I have one that has been there for a couple years [B)]
