Remington 700 ADL Scope Bases

What height scope bases are required to get a 3X9X40mm scope mounted on a 700 ADL ( without sights) to get the scope as low as possible to the line of bore with out touching the barrel?? Thanks

  You need to ask what height RINGS not bases. Basically, there is no standardization relating to ring height descriptions. There is a chart in the back of the Brownell's catalog that might help.
  What brand of base is on the rifle or are you starting from scratch? A set of Weaver bases gives you the most choices. If using Weaver bases, you can probably get by with a Weaver medium ring set.
  I like my scopes as low as possible since I have a thin face and that is about the only way I can achieve a good cheekweld.

  Its a Remington 700 ADL in 7MM Magnum. The rifle came without signts or bases. Im thinking on useing Weaver bases The book recomends Weaver 40 A for the front of the rifle and 36 for the rear. The scope is a Leupold 3 X 9 X 40mm. I want to get the scope as close to the line of bore as I can What rengs should I use with these base.

  Personally, myself I would use the Burris Signature series rings, and their XTB Weaver style, solid steel base. You will have to use the low signature series Zee rings to get what you are looking for.
  
  The Signature series rings tak away some of the mistakes that are often made by folks who are not fully aware of the total scope mounting concept. Be sure to get your crosshairs square with the bore of the rifle...not just what looksright to the shooter. It plays a big part of hitting far out.
